For younger children of reception age, we have created a workshop about a knight & his lady. Wel is in full harness of armour & karen (as Lady Margaret) in posh ladies costume. We tell the children about the clothes & armour we are wearing and the children are invited to ask their own questions. They are then invited to try on a few of our smallest bits of armour & clothing. We then explain that we would like to commission them to paint a portrait of us to hang over our fireplace in our castle. There is a medieval penny for the best portrait. The children are then invited to draw us. Of course all the portraits are superb and we decide that we are so rich that we would like to buy them all! Every child receives a replica medieval penny to take home.
