Happening History Events for 2016
Below is a list of all the museums and historic sites we’ll be attending this year in addition to all our school work. We will continue to add to this list throughout the year so please do keep returning:

February
15-20 Audley End House & Gardens, Essex – Come and visit us this half term and learn how to play some traditional games.  Whether it’s croquet, shove ha’penny, marbles or perhaps one of our optical toys such as the zoetrope or phenakistoscope.  There’s a great variety of toys and games.  Suitable for all the family.  EH

March
25-28 Dover Castle – Join us for the children’s festival.  We will be doing all things WW1, Wel will have his WW1 assault course and I’ll be all things medical.  Plus lots more to see besides.  EH

30 Colchester Castle – Wel will be putting the public on trial for their various medieval crimes and through some of the more minor punishments such as the stocks and pillories.  Trials are at 11AM, 12PM, 2PM & 3PM.  Colchester Council event

April
23-24 Dover Castle – Join us for the castles annual, St Georges day event, meet the dragon and St George!  We’ll be running our medieval criminal trials and surgery displays.  Plus lots more.  EH.

June
20-24 Bodiam Castle – Medieval week for schools.  Would you like to visit Bodiam Castle, why not make your students visit even more special by visiting Happening History at the castle.  All week we will be running displays on medieval life.  Students can learn about clothing, food, marriage, try on armour, hold a weapon or learn about medieval surgery.  Booking is essential so please contact the castle directly or we’d be happy to pass on your details. Displays for all Key stages. NT.

27-30 & 1 July  Bodiam Castle – Medieval week for schools.  Would you like to visit Bodiam Castle, why not make your students visit even more special by visiting Happening History at the castle.  All week we will be running displays on medieval life.  Students can learn about clothing, food, marriage, try on armour, hold a weapon or learn about medieval surgery.  Booking is essential so please contact the castle directly or we’d be happy to pass on your details. Displays for all Key stages. NT.

August
13-14 Dover Castle – Siege 1216 –   Our first time at this event.  Medieval surgery.  Rest of details to be confirmed. EH

16-18  Carisbrooke Castle, IOW – Joust!  Part of a much larger event with jousting, traders, re-enactors, jester and much more.  The Sheriff (Or Shire-Reeve) will be holding trials throughout the day, learn about how you would have been tried or punished in medieval times but careful or you may end up in the stocks yourself!  Mix up a medieval medicine or learn the gruesome tales of the surgeon. EH.
