9 May – Offham Village Fayre – Medieval cooking and milling. Come help the busy cook and meet the miller. Grind flour on the quern and make butter in the churn! Learn about the foods of your ancestors!

 

17 May – Parndon Wood Nature Reserve – A small craft fayre set in this beautiful nature reserve where we will be demonstrating medieval toys and games.

 

25 May – Hall Place – Celebrating 500 years since the accession of Henry VIII to the throne. Be put on trial, meet the miller and make some flour and meet the surgeon and the blood sucking leeches and help out by mixing a medicine. Part of the Halls grand reopening after new development.

 

30 & 31 May – Canterbury Tales – Meet the cook and help him make some butter to use in his cooking, learn about medieval and see it cooked and prepared. Meet the miller and make some flour on the quern, learn and feel the different grains they would have used and see what bread your medieval ancestors might have eaten.

 

June 2009

August 2009
1& 2 August – We’re back at the fantastic Bodiam Castle giving displays on crime and punishment. Come join us and be put on trial for your crimes!

 

3 to 7 August – Bolsover Castle – The Shire-Reeve moves onwards to Bolsover in Derbyshire to continue his trials of the wicked people of Derbyshire! Come along and join us for the week.

 

11 & 12 August – Carisbrooke Castle– ‘Worst days out in history’ Come and learn about crime and punishment in medieval times, meet the bloodsucking leeches and the horrors of medieval surgery.

 

15 & 16 August – Canterbury Tales – Learn about the gruesome medieval surgery, learn how an amputation was done, how teeth were pulled or an arrow extracted and meet the blood sucking live leeches. Help the surgeon by mixing a medicine to treat his patients.

 

23-25 August – Battle Abbey – ‘Boot Camp’.

 

September 2009
5 September – Houghton Regis Medieval Fayre – Try on medieval armour, hold a sword, learn about medieval surgery and meet the blood sucking leeches, be put on trial or play with our medieval toys and games.
